SALMOUNI-ZERHOUNI & Associés is exclusively dedicated to the protection and defence of intellectual property rights. It origins back to 1986, when Mehdi Salmouni-Zerhouni, after practising as an attorney in France, decided to set up the eponymous IP attorney firm in Casablanca, one of the very first in Morocco.
Daoud Salmouni-Zerhouni joined the firm in 2019 after having practised intellectual property law in France for 10 years as an attorney at the Paris Bar.
In its forty years of existence, the boutique has become the Moroccan leader in intellectual property law (patents, plant varieties, geographical indications, designations of origin, designs and models, trademarks, domain names, negative certificates), with recognised expertise in resolving intellectual property disputes (infringement and unfair competition actions, nullity and revocation actions, negotiations, arbitration).
What we do
SALMOUNI-ZERHOUNI & Associés supports, assists and represents a Moroccan and international clientele made up of small and medium-sized enterprises and major international groups, particularly in the fields of pharmaceuticals, luxury goods, hotels and restaurants, fashion, agri-food, the automotive and aeronautical industries, crafts and education.
With a team of Trademark & Patent Attorneys, lawyers and paralegals specialising in intellectual property, as well as a network of attorneys and bailiffs, the firm represents its clients before the Moroccan Industrial Property Office (OMPIC) and assists them in litigation before the Moroccan courts.
With a network of correspondents on every continent, SALMOUNI-ZERHOUNI & Associés also regularly assists its Moroccan clients in protecting and defending their intellectual property rights internationally.
The profession of "Patent & Trademark Attorneys" ("conseillers en propriété industrielle") is regulated and protected by law no. 17-97 relating to industrial property. Patent & Trademark Attorneys assist and represent third parties in obtaining, maintaining and using industrial property rights. Entry on the list kept by the Moroccan Industrial Property Office (OMPIC) is subject to requirements in terms of qualifications, experience and integrity. Patent and Trademark Attorneys are subject to a code of ethics. Moroccan law punishes any usurpation of the title of Patent & Trademark Attorney or the use of an equivalent title that could lead to confusion.
