Mehdi Salmouni-Zerhouni is a Patent & Trademark Attorney and the founding partner of the firm. With 40 years of experience in Morocco, he is certainly one of the most recognised experts in intellectual property law.

A graduate of the Strasbourg Faculty of Law, the Center for International Intellectual Property Studies (CEIPI) and the Strasbourg Faculty of Arts, Mehdi began his career as an attorney at the Strasbourg Bar before founding the eponymous firm of Patent & Trademark Attorneys in Casablanca in 1986, one of the very first in Morocco.

With his in-depth knowledge of the Moroccan market, its players and institutions, he has developed cutting-edge expertise in resolving complex intellectual property disputes.

He is a court-appointed industrial property expert on the national roll of Moroccan appeal courts, and an approved industrial and commercial property arbitrator to the Casablanca court of appeal.

Mehdi is a registered expert with the Arbitration and Mediation Centre of the World Intellectual Property Organisation (WIPO).

He is also :

  • Honorary Chairman of the Moroccan Institute of Expertise, Mediation and Arbitration (IMEMA)
  • Chairman of the Intellectual Property Commission of the International Chamber of Commerce Morocco
  • Chairman of the Moroccan Institute of Franchise and Partnership Networks (IMAREF)
  • Chairman of the Moroccan Association of Patent & Trademark Attorneys (AMACPI), for which he obtained accredited observer status before the World Intellectual Property Organisation (WIPO).

Mehdi is regularly invited to give courses and seminars on intellectual property and franchising law (Africa Solutions Week, courses in business schools, seminars for legal professionals) and is in demand with the media and specialist publications on intellectual property issues (L'Opinion, Le Matin, Challenge, Maroc Hebdo, L'Economiste, Finances News Hebdo, Industrie du Maroc Magazine, Aujourd'hui Le Maroc, Médias 24, Les Eco, Luxe Radio, Industries.ma).
